Why this site exists
Every beauty and fashion category has the same problem: too many products, too few honest reviews, and a wide gap between what costs $30 and what costs $300. Most of the time, the difference doesn’t justify the price.
BestUnderPick exists to answer one question, over and over: “What’s the best [product] under $[budget] for [persona]?” We compile editorial research roundups from Reddit threads, expert reviews (Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, NYMag Strategist, Wirecutter), and verified user reviews — then recommend picks that genuinely earn their price tag.
How we research
Every roundup on this site is built on editorial research, not specs scraped from a manufacturer’s page. Our process:
- We define a budget (e.g., “under $250”) and a persona (e.g., “First-Time Luxury Hunter”).
- We aggregate 200+ Reddit threads on r/handbags, r/MakeupAddiction, r/SkincareAddiction and similar communities.
- We compile expert reviews from Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, NYMag Strategist, Wirecutter, PopSugar, and others.
- We sample verified user reviews (Sephora, Nordstrom, Ulta, brand DTC sites — typically 50+ per product).
- We cross-check pricing, stock, materials, and warranty info from brand and retailer sources.
- We rank picks by editorial consensus, not affiliate commission.
- We disclose any affiliate relationships clearly. Our rankings are not for sale.
Editorial Research Roundup — not personal hands-on testing. We do not personally use every product. Where consensus is strong we present it directly. Where opinions split, we surface the disagreement honestly.

BestUnderPick is run by MINKI JUNG, based in Seoul, South Korea. After years of helping friends navigate the “which one should I buy?” question across beauty, fashion, and luxury, I started this site to share the same curated research with a wider audience.
